My cough has gotten worse again, thought I caught another bout of bronchitis but now I'm not sure. Doctor took all week to get back to me, and only cause I started calling to bug, turns out today I found out she went on vacation right after my tests *growl* She comes back Monday. In the meantime, the doctor that diagnosed asthma originally works in the same office, he took a look at my chest xray and blood work and got back to me the same day (today). He says other than obvious inflammation of my airways, the chest xray is clean of any signs, including calcium deposits from more serious conditions (including the more serious version of what I thought I might have, histoplasmosis). He took a longer look at my bloodwork for histomplasma and said that the tests were inconclusive but he's inclined to say it's not histoplasmosis but is likely some other fungal infection or mold allergen because the part of the test designed to detect antigens to fight histoplasma was positive, but the other more specific parts to the histoplasma fungus were negative. He recommends that I stick with my asthma meds, and take a few doses from the old nebulizer since I still have unopened foil packs (so long as the liquid remains clear) and to schedule an appointment with the pulmonologist (a specialist) he's going to refer me to for more advanced testing. He said the pulmonologist should prescribe fresh meds, possibly the same as my asthma meds to help with inflammation of the airways, but the old expired meds were better than nothing until then, and at the very least they couldn't hurt.
